Refrigeration via purification through repeated measurements

چکیده
We design a measurement-based quantum refrigerator with an arbitrary number of qubits situated in one-dimensional array that interact through variable-range XY interactions. The method proposed is based on repeated evolution followed by measurement the single accessible qubit, which has potential to reduce temperature rest subsystems, thereby demonstrating cooling device. performance quantified fidelity each local subsystem ground state Hamiltonian and corresponding probability success. identify system parameters, include interaction strength, range interactions, initial position measured so fidelities all unmeasured approach unity nonvanishing probability. observe although strong interactions during are required achieve cooling, long-range typically deteriorate refrigerator, indicates not ubiquitous. report scalability saturation property success respect size, turns out be independent involved parameters measurements. Furthermore, we show subsystems can cooled changes depending odd or even sites refrigerator. argue distribution entanglement between give possible explanation dependence process sites.

متن کاملTesting temporal Bell inequalities through repeated measurements in rf-SQUIDs
Temporal Bell-like inequalities are derived taking into account the influence of the measurement apparatus on the observed magnetic flux in a rf-SQUID. Quantum measurement theory is shown to predict violations of these inequalities only when the flux states corresponding to opposite current senses are not distinguishable. Thus rf-SQUIDs cannot help to discriminate realism and quantum mechanics ...
متن کاملOn Deconvolution with Repeated Measurements
In a large class of statistical inverse problems it is necessary to suppose that the transformation that is inverted is known. Although, in many applications, it is unrealistic to make this assumption, the problem is often insoluble without it. However, if additional data are available then it is possible to estimate consistently the unknown error density. Data are seldom available directly on ...
متن کاملPurification in the Infinitely-Repeated Prisoners’ Dilemma∗
This paper investigates the Harsanyi (1973)-purifiability of mixed strategies in the repeated prisoners’ dilemma with perfect monitoring. We perturb the game so that in each period, a player receives a private payoff shock which is independently and identically distributed across players and periods. We focus on the purifiability of one-period memory mixed strategy equilibria used by Ely and Vä...
متن کاملHonesty through repeated interactions.
In the study of signaling, it is well known that the cost of deception is an essential element for stable honest signaling in nature. In this paper, we show how costs for deception can arise endogenously from repeated interactions between individuals. Utilizing the Sir Philip Sidney game as an illustrative case, we show that repeated interactions can sustain honesty with no observable signal co...
